Eyes out for Contact Lenses!

Keep your eyes out for Groupon Goodies!

Unexpectedly, I found a Groupon deal on Air Optix, the contact lenses I use! Instead of dropping $120 and some tears, I excitingly paid $83 with free shipping! Double scored! Only got two boxes (six month supply), but if there’s a deal like this again… I’ll buy it in a heart beat!

Last Thoughts: I’ve seen a lot of Acuvue Groupons! Keep your eyes wide open!

Groupon Cooking Date

Intro

It’s date time! Skip the movie! And go straight to dinner! Wait, hold up, and rewind! Before getting all comforty on your chair, try something that will make your night heat up! No, I’m talking about adding some red hot chili pepper to your dish, but a cooking class, and this will definitely heat up the night, as in flames! ;)

Groupon Date!

With a whooping Groupon deal of $28 for two people (compare to $300 ekkks!), we learned how to cook a Three Course Italian Dinner: Minestrone Soup, Seafood Fettuccine Alfredo, and Cannoli.

There’s also other food that you could cook and just to list a few: French Onion Soup, Shrimp Stuffed Mushrooms, Mediterranean Salad, Russian Beef Stroganoff, Peach Flambé over French Vanilla Ice-Cream, Minestrone Italiano, Crostini Caprese, Chicken Parmesan with Angel Hair Pomodoro, Shrimp Bisque, Italian Meatloaf Wellington, and there are also Pizza making classes!

Make sure you contact Napoli Culinary Academy for the dates and type of classes available.

We were in charge of the Minestrone Soup and hopefully we don’t screw it up! We simmered the soup for 20 minutes and it’s looking deli-cious!

Our other group members made the Seafood Fettuccine Alfredo.

And… the final product…

Here’s our first course, our extra spicy Minestrone Soup. Ops! Added too much dried pepper, but still amazing! It burns!

image

Second course, our Shrimp and Scallop Seafood Fettuccine Alfredo.

Our group’s cannoli made with lots of chocolate and strawberry syrup!

image

And, yup, we got judged for our final product! Here are the chefs tasting our food… and who won?

And… (drum roll) …. Everyone is a winner!

Last Thoughts

Definitely, a great, heaty bonding experience with my best friend. Here’s what I learned about him: he can’t cook, but next time when he does, he will definitely heat up the night and cook me an Italian Three Course Meal!

He’s quite the chef!

Give Scuba Diving a Shot!

Intro

Firstly, I would like to say thank you to my Cousin Lisa who pressured and forced me to give scuba a shot! Thinking I would be relaxing and sun-baking, she totally tricked me into doing this on our Groupon Jamaica trip!

Then again, I’m very glad she made me scuba dive with her under the sea because it was definitely the hardest and scariest thing I did!

Plus, more stuff to cross out on my bucket-list-of-crap-to-do!

Here’s a picture of me on the left and my Cousin Lisa on the right.

Groupon Time!

Here are some Scuba Diving Groupons I’ve seen online:

(1) Scuba Dive for fun: approx. $50 on Groupon (originally $100.) A great starter to see if this sport will turn into a hobby!

(2) Open-Water Scuba-Certification: approx. $160 on Groupon (originally $400.) Yup, scuba turned into a hobby and I got PADI certified in Jamaica! Every course is a little different some last as long as six days, but I only had a three day course with 4 dives. First day, did some pool training and then hopped into open water for my first dive and swam around. Third and fourth dives were pretty much the “test days,” so you’ll have to perform all the modules taught during the pool dives. Oh! Yes! Another thing! There is a written exam, so be prepared to read the book and do practice problems! Don’t worry, if you fail the first exam there’s always a second try! Once you passed, you’re instructors snaps a picture of you, fill in some paper work, and sends it off by three weeks you’re officially certified and get a cool little ID card with it too!

Here’s a photo of me performing one of my test sets. I had to completely take my mask off for a long-ass-time before I can put it back on and clear the water off the mask. I thought I was going to breathe through my nose and drown! Scary, but I made it through alive! On the right is my cool instructor! Private lessons all day!

Other tips: bring a waterproof camera that is designed for diving! Thank goodness my cousin Lisa had one! We got to capture a lot of memories! Depending on where you dive, you might get to see cool little creatures! Also, I scubaed in Jamaica, so waters were much warmer! And I also heard that waters in Cancun were much nicer and clearer - so, you get to see more animals swimming around!

Captured from the camera…

Can you spot the stingray?

Look! Another stingray!

This is cool…

And this one too…

And there were heaps to see, but didn’t capture everything!

Best memories: I totally sound like I was excited to do this scuba diving thing… Dude, I was shitting my wetsuit! I was so afraid of breathing through my nose and drowning to death on my vacation! Below, is a picture of my instructor, my cousin, and I holding hands as we go back up, up, and up on the last day when I amazingly completed and passed my open water training course. It was a good feeling! Mission accomplished!

Last thoughts: below, is a picture that describes open water scuba diving… It’s another world… under the sea…

EDC Las Vegas
There was definitely no discount, but you can definitely do it cheap!
Here are some Grouponista Tips:
(1) Early Bird Tickets: if you’re bored at the office and not even 100% sure if you’re going or not, go and buy early bird tickets because you can definitely resale it later. With fees and shipping early bird tickets go for $270-ish versus general tickets, $310-ish. Don’t wait because it will sellout and then you’ll have to pay premium price on Craig’s List! Eks!
(2) Herd up the gang: get a crap load of people to go. Not only the more the merrier, but more the cheaper!

(3) Hotels away from the strip: if you don’t book hotels early enough, you can try to get some hotel deals away from the strip like Marriott by the airport.
(4) Rent a Rape-Mobile: If you have 10+ people, you’re better off renting a 12/15 person rapper van and this way you can save an extra $40-ish compare to the shuttle buses, $85 per person.
(5) Eat McDonald’s: you’re not going to do much eating ;). And if you do eat massive amounts you’re not doing it right.
Other tips: bring a camera. Don’t be afraid of taking lots and massive amounts of pictures! One day you’re going to look back and be like WOW! Remember, don’t forget to enjoy and memories are priceless! Capture a few moments of it and you’ll look back and all those feelings will come back!
Best memories: watching the sunset and sunrise with all your best friends sharing the same feelings you feel inside. Picture above is a sunrise and this reminds me of my time at EDC with my friends.
Last thoughts: a must do in your early 20’s. Highly recommended once in a lifetime experience (you might even go back next year!)
